Quarantine turned my thumb green!
I’ve never been a gardener. You would think that owning a lawn maintenance business, I would be quite the green thumb but that’s not the case. Growing up I used to love helping my mom in our little garden. I wouldn’t say I loved the garden as much as I really just loved an excuse to play in the dirt. As I got older I lost interest but one thing that’s stayed the same however, is my love for flowers.
We've been loving our little potted garden.
Roses have always been one of my favorites and I recently got an idea stuck in my head that it would be fun to start growing something here, in our rental, while we build our forever home. My grand plan is to transplant the roses when our home is completed and look at them for years to come as the literal seed of our dream that was around before we even laid the first brick. What can I say, I’m a tad sentimental. Did I mention, we don’t even have land purchased yet? But yet somehow, here I am with not one but FOUR rose bushes. If I’m honest, that’s pretty typical for me. I get an idea in my head and go all out before sorting out the details. If anything, my life is nothing less than entertaining because of that habit. I think my husband would agree… or at least, I hope – lol!
Pictured here are my four David Austin roses. Boscobel, Lady Of Shalott, The Queen Of Sweden and Golden Celebration.
Caring for my little potted rose garden has also proved to be a healthy little hobby for me to focus on while we’re going through this pandemic. Seeing them grow and flourish into something beautiful through all of this chaos has been nothing short of poetic. I’ve really enjoyed spending my mornings with my coffee and our pup out on our balcony flanked on either side by the roses fragrant blooms. Pretty nice way to start the day if you ask me! Like much of the world, Corona has forced me to slow down and literally, stop to smell the roses. I’m sure God Is getting a good chuckle out it as I’ve never been one to slow down. It only took a world wide pandemic for me to give it a go!
